Hong Leong Asset Management Wins Four Awards at The Edge Thomson Reuters Lipper Malaysia Fund Awards 2018

Wins Two Group Awards (Malaysia Provident) For Best Equity and Best Mixed Assets

Hong Leong Asset Management Bhd (“HLAM” or “the Company”) received four awards at the recent annual The Edge | Thomson Reuters Lipper Award ceremony1, including group awards for Best Group in Equity – Malaysia Provident for the second consecutive year, as well as Best Group in Mixed Assets – Malaysia Provident.

In addition, two funds managed by HLAM also emerged as winners with the Hong Leong Growth Fund (“Growth Fund”) winning the Equity Malaysia Diversified – Malaysia Provident, 3 years award and Hong Leong Dividend Fund (“Dividend Fund”) bagging the Equity Malaysia Income – Malaysia Provident, 3 years award.

The Growth Fund had delivered consistently strong risk-adjusted returns relative to its peers – making it a star winner under its category with a 33.65% return during the 3-year period ending 31 December 20172 The Dividend Fund registered a 45.13% return during the same 3-year period to claim top honour in its category.

"It is an honour to have won the four awards. Winning these prestigious awards speak of the dedication and hard work of our entire team in delivering consistent, risk- adjusted, long-term performance of our funds”, said Hoo See Kheng, Chief Executive Officer of HLAM.

"HLAM’s priority is to continuously maintain our track record in delivering satisfactory fund performance for our investors, as evident from our second consecutive win for the Best Group in Equity – Malaysia Provident category. We attribute the winning streak to adhering to our bottom-up stock picking strategy that has been effective in generating good returns for the Funds these past few years. We would like to thank our investors for their trust in us and have continued to remain invested in our funds,he added.

Looking ahead, we expect global economic growth to remain strong. An uptick in market volatility this year compared to last year is expected as investors assess the impact of higher inflation and interest rates on capital markets and companies’ earnings growth. Investors’ interest in the equity markets around the Asia Pacific region is expected to be sustained due to expectations of higher corporate profit growth as compared to the developed markets.

HLAM’s funds are distributed nationwide through its agency force and appointed Institutional Unit Trust Advisers, with Hong Leong Bank Berhad being the main distributor.  This wide outreach has enabled HLAM to offer its range of funds to investors across Malaysia.
