Launch of Hong Leong Regular Income Fund

A fund for all seasons

Hong Leong Asset Management Bhd (HLAM) launched an open-end fixed income fund, Hong Leong Regular Income Fund (HLRIF) on 10 August 2016. The fund is designed for investors seeking investments that provide regular income at moderate risk levels.

Hong Leong Regular Income Fund is an actively managed, fixed income fund that aims to provide regular income and medium-to-long term capital growth by investing into a diversified investment portfolio comprising a mixture of fixed income instruments, equities and equity-related securities. The fund seeks to pay regular monthly income to its investors, subject to availability of income.

“The fund is an ‘all season’ fund given its low volatility as the focus is to invest in quality credits. The aim is to provide regular income in whatever market conditions as well as to provide diversification to our investor’s investment portfolio.  Building long-term investor confidence is core to our investment approach and this is reflected in HLAM’s stringent credit selection process and conservative asset allocation for HLRIF,” said HLAM’s CEO, Mr Hoo See Kheng in a statement today.

To achieve the fund’s objective, HLRIF aims to capture opportunities across the local fixed income universe under various economic cycles in addition to achieving potential capital growth as well as yield enhancement through equity investments in the local market and in the Asia Pacific ex-
Japan region.

Mr Hoo further added, “The fund’s flexible asset allocation provides portfolio risk diversification and lower volatility than a comparative pure equity portfolio while offering investors attractive returns potentially. Portfolio risk is further minimised with the fixed income investments, as the core asset class that is invested locally.”

On HLAM’s plans for the year, Mr Hoo said, “In March this year, we launched a three-year, close-ended fund, the Hong Leong Strategic Opportunity Fund. We are constantly monitoring market demand and investor appetite, and will launch more funds at opportune times.”

Hong Leong Regular Income Fund is priced at RM 0.50 per unit during the initial offer period until  31 August 2016. The minimum initial investment is RM1,000 while the minimum additional investment is RM100. The fund is exclusively distributed through Hong Leong Bank Berhad’s over 270 branches nationwide and HLAM’s branches.

HLAM offers a broad spectrum of investment solutions through equities, fixed income, money market and multi-assets. HLAM has a total of sixteen (16) unit trust funds, of which three (3) are Shariah-compliant funds. HLAM also has six (6) wholesale funds.
